Study Notes Summarizer and Flashcard Maker (Free)

Summary

Flashcards (click to reveal answer)

About this tool

The Study Notes Summarizer scores each sentence in your notes by how many important, frequently-repeated words it contains, then keeps only the highest-scoring sentences as your summary. It also scans for definition-style sentences (“X is Y,” “X: Y”) and turns them into click-to-reveal flashcards automatically.

How to use it

  1. Paste your study notes into the box – the more sentences, the better the summary.
  2. Pick a summary length: short, medium, or long.
  3. Click Summarize and make flashcards.
  4. Review the summary, then click through the flashcards to quiz yourself.

Pro tips

  • Flashcards work best on notes written as clear definitions (“Mitosis is cell division that produces two identical cells”) rather than narrative prose.
  • Run this on your own notes right after class while the material is fresh – it is much better at picking out defined terms than vague summaries.

FAQ

Is this an AI summary?
No – it uses a keyword-frequency scoring method (extractive summarization) that runs entirely in your browser, not a large language model. It picks your most important existing sentences rather than writing new ones.
Why didn’t it generate any flashcards?
The flashcard maker looks for sentences shaped like definitions. If your notes are written more narratively, try rephrasing key facts as “Term is definition” and re-running the tool.
