About this tool

Find and Replace is a straightforward text utility that scans your pasted or typed content for a specific word, phrase, or pattern and swaps it out with whatever replacement text you choose. It works on plain text of any length, making it useful for writers, developers, data wranglers, and anyone who needs to clean up or reformat content without opening a full editor. No installation required, just paste and go.

Reach for this tool when you need to do a quick bulk substitution in a document, script, or dataset and your current environment makes it awkward. It is especially handy when you are working outside your usual editor, handling text copied from a web page, or need a clean neutral environment free of formatting side effects.

How to use it

  1. Paste or type your source text into the main input field.
  2. Enter the word or phrase you want to locate in the Find field.
  3. Type the replacement text in the Replace With field, or leave it blank to delete matches.
  4. Choose whether the search should be case-sensitive using the available toggle.
  5. Click the Replace button to apply all substitutions at once.
  6. Copy the updated text from the output field and use it wherever you need.

Pro tips

  • Leave the Replace With field empty to strip out every instance of an unwanted word or character in one pass.
  • Run multiple sequential replacements by copying the output back into the input field for a second substitution pass.

FAQ

Does it support replacing across multiple lines?
Yes, the tool processes the entire block of pasted text including line breaks, so matches that appear on any line will be replaced. Multi-line patterns themselves are not supported as search terms.
Will it replace every match or just the first one?
It replaces all matching instances in the text by default, not just the first occurrence. Review your output if you only needed a single substitution.
